Daily Routine Chart
In general, kids will tell you they love being out of school for holidays, summer vacations, etc. Additionally, kids thrive on consistency and a consistent routine, whether it’s at home or at school. With the current extended school closures, the attached template may be of help to your family in helping your child create a visual schedule of some sort to help map out their days at home. Of course, flexibility is always a key, so specific times of day may not be necessary to list, but kids might enjoy creating this schedule to reference to throughout the day, checking off things as completed. Younger students may wish to draw pictures of routine daily events on the first page, while older students may like using the second page better, creating a written list format. Use what works best for your family. (Resource: www.counselorkeri.com)

The attached packet of deep breathing strategies may be of help for students to learn calming skills to apply anytime it's needed. Choose which one works best for your child, or alternate at different times.

Gratitude Scavenger Hunt
When going through any difficult time, it’s important for children to know there are many good things around them, making it a great time to discover gratitude and think about what they are thankful for. This Gratitude Scavenger Hunt may be of interest to your child. If taking pictures of the items, the pictures can be put into a handmade journal, decorating to their liking to extend the activity further, or the students can draw or write in a journal about their findings from the scavenger hunt instead of taking pictures. Happy Hunting! (Resource: www.hellobestow.com)

Kindness Matters
It's a great time to remember that kindness towards others matters. Take a look at creating a kindness calendar of your own on the attached template (Resource: www.pawprintfamily.com), or follow the Random Acts of Kindness Calendar also attached (Resource: www.naturalbeachliving.com), choosing the ideas that work for you, coloring the boxes in once completed. The other attachment lists two fun projects that may interest your child when discussing more about kindness.
