Ms. Merritt graduated from Bell City High School in 1995, and from McNeese State in 2000 with a degree in Family and Child Studies. She taught kindergarten for two years and Pre-K for four years at College Oaks and Ralph Wilson Elementary schools before coming to teach here. She is married and has three children.
